Doraville vs. Chamblee:
where things are
Chamblee is the southern end of the cluster. Canton House (4825), Gu's Kitchen (4897) and Best BBQ (5000) are on Buford Highway itself. A few minutes west, on New Peachtree Road, the Atlanta Chinatown Mall is home to Oriental Pearl Seafood Restaurant, a food court and Asian groceries; the mall has been renovated through 2026. China Kitchen and Chong Qing Hot Pot are in the same New Peachtree Road block.
Doraville picks up north of Chamblee along Buford Highway. Most of its Chinese restaurants are in a handful of plazas between 5090 and 5283 Buford Highway: LanZhou Ramen, Northern China Eatery, Bun Factory, Dim Sum Heaven, Bo Bo Garden, BBQ Corner 2, La Mei Zi, Java Saga, Good Harvest, Yummy Spicy and China Hot Pot are all within about a mile of each other. Tips for eating here
- Parking is in shared plaza lots. On weekend afternoons the busiest plazas fill up, so arrive before noon for dim sum.
- Most places are casual and family-style. Groups of six or more should call ahead on weekends, especially for dim sum and hot pot.
- Plan a crawl: dumplings at one stop, roast duck to go from another, boba or a Taiwanese snack to finish.
- Hours change, especially around Lunar New Year. Check each restaurant page or call before a special trip.
